Flush switches | EMEA

Manufacturing processes stopped because of a mistake during operation, which in turn, caused a large revenue loss…How do we prevent this situation from happening again?

A switch started operating when someone bumped into it. This simple error led to a serious situation

In the manufacturing process of semiconductors, improvement in throughput is always sought after and 24-hour operations are the norm.
Manufacturing processes is not allowed to stop unless it is for scheduled maintenance or emergency situations. Once a manufacturing process is stopped because of an unexpected error in operation, it impacts the whole series of processes up to the inspection machine, not just the machines in the previous and following processes. Also, re-starting a clean room requires a lot of time. No matter how the interface is situated on the semiconductor side, it is always possible that an elbow of the operator or a tool that the operator is holding will hit the machine and press a switch.

To prevent mistakes in operation, how about a flush switch without extended edges?
IDEC recommends switches with a flush design in order to avoid the risk of unexpected stops in manufacturing processes.
The flush silhouette switches that IDEC offers have a shape that contains the whole switch area in a bezel that is only 2mm thick from the panel surface. With this shape, a switch cannot be pressed even when a palm is pressed onto it. There is no need to worry about possible mistakes in operation.
The superb design of the flush silhouette switch also satisfies the demand that the panel surface of the machine look stylish.

With a full line-up, flush silhouette switches can be used for various purposes
LB Series are suitable for small machines, while LBW Series are for the installation hole size of o22, and CW Series are available as flush silhouette switches. Customers can choose switches according to their machines. In addition to a wide variety of switches and display lights such as pushbutton switches, display lights, illumination pushbutton switches, selector switches, key switches and lever switches, IDEC now offers switches with guards, not only with the flush surface, in cases where customers need to more strictly prevent mistakes in operation. If there is anything that needs to be addressed, please consult with IDEC, a specialist in switches and interface.

Reduce total cost with high-performance compact code reader
In conventional designs, code readers installed on load ports had limited installation flexibility. In addition to having to purchase additional parts used to adjust the reading angle, it also took a lot of time to set it up at the correct angle. There were also many semiconductor manufacturing equipment load port designers who thought that it was important to reduce the total cost including the code reader.
In response to this, IDEC introduced the WB2F 2D code scanner capable of reliably reading codes at an angle. Just 24mm x 40 mm x 32 mm in size, the compact WB2F is equipped with a high resolution 1.2 megapixel CMOS image sensor can read small symbols over a wide area. It can be easily integrated into small devices.
In addition to the auto-tuning function that reduces overall adjustment time, this model is also equipped with an image storage function that reduces the amount of work required when there is a reading error. This allows excellent traceability while keeping costs low.

Ideal for semiconductor manufacturing applications in addition to load ports
The WB2F 2D code scanner is capable of reading codes even from distances up to 150 mm. It is also compatible with various types of barcode and 2D codes.
Therefore, it is possible to read codes installed in various locations and can be used in a wide range of applications such as with FOUP enclosures holding 300 mm wafers, cassettes holding 200 mm wafers, and wafer frames that prevent damage.
